Last Updated: December 06, 2025
FurrySide respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. This page explains how to submit a copyright complaint under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and how to submit a counter-notice if you believe content was removed by mistake.
1) Where to Send DMCA Notices
All DMCA takedown notices and counter-notices must be emailed to:
Please include “DMCA” in the subject line (for example: “DMCA Takedown Notice” or “DMCA Counter-Notice”) so we can route it quickly.
2) DMCA Takedown Notice Requirements
If you believe content on FurrySide infringes your copyright, your notice must include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name is acceptable).
- Identification of the copyrighted work (the work you own) that you claim has been infringed. If the work exists primarily in-world, provide a detailed description of the original work (for example: object name, creator name, approximate creation date, screenshots, packaging/vendor signage, and any receipts/transaction records or other proof of authorship/ownership). If you have an external webpage showing the work, you may include it, but it is not required.
-
Identification of the allegedly infringing material on FurrySide (what to remove + where) and information
reasonably sufficient for us to locate it.
Because FurrySide is a virtual world, please include as many of the following as possible:- Region name and (if known) region coordinates
- Exact in-world location/landmark details (or a teleport landmark if available)
- Object name(s), vendor name(s), and avatar name of the seller/owner (if known)
- Screenshots showing the item and where it appears
- Any transaction IDs/receipts (if applicable)
Tip: Item #2 is “the work you own.” Item #3 is “the copy on FurrySide you want removed.”
- Your contact information: full name, email address, and (optional) telephone number.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Send your notice to support@furryside.com.
3) What Happens After We Receive a Notice
When we receive a complete and valid DMCA notice, we may remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material, notify the affected user, and take additional action under our Terms of Service.
Incomplete notices may be delayed or may be unable to be processed.
4) DMCA Counter-Notice (If You Believe Removal Was a Mistake)
If your content was removed or disabled due to a DMCA notice and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice by emailing support@furryside.com.
Your counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name is acceptable).
- Identification of the material removed/disabled and where it appeared before removal (region name/location, object name, and screenshots if available).
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
-
Your name and email address, and a statement that you:
- consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate U.S. Federal District Court, and
- will accept service of process from the person who submitted the DMCA notice (or their agent).
After we receive a valid counter-notice, we may forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a court action within the time allowed by law, we may restore the material as permitted under the DMCA.
5) Repeat Infringer Policy
FurrySide may suspend or terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, consistent with our Terms of Service.
6) Misrepresentations / False Claims
Submitting false or misleading DMCA notices or counter-notices may have legal consequences (including under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f)). Please ensure you are authorized to submit the request.
For more information about the DMCA, you may visit the U.S. Copyright Office at https://www.copyright.gov.
