This Privacy Policy explains how FurrySide (“FurrySide,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, services, and in-world platform (the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1) Who We Are

FurrySide is an online virtual world built on OpenSimulator technology, where users interact using avatars in a shared 3D environment. The Service includes our website, account system, grid services, and in-world features.

2) Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

We may collect:

  • Email address (required to register and manage your account)
  • Account/support communications (messages you send to support, reports, and tickets)
  • Any information you choose to provide to us (for example, if you contact support)

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the website or connect to the Service, we may collect:

  • IP address
  • Device and browser information (basic technical logs)
  • Dates/times of logins and activity (security and operations)
  • Cookies and similar technologies on the website (see Section 6)

2.3 In-World / Grid Operational Data

To operate, secure, and support the Service, we may process and store:

  • Avatar name and unique avatar identifier (UUID)
  • Region access and service logs (for stability, security, abuse prevention, and support)
  • In-world chat logs, including local chat and/or private messages, which may be stored on our systems

Access to chat logs is restricted. We do not routinely review chat logs. Chat logs are accessed only when necessary for purposes such as investigating abuse reports, enforcing our Terms and region maturity rules, protecting users, addressing security concerns, or complying with legal obligations. Only authorized staff may access these logs, and only on a need-to-know basis.

3) How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage accounts
  • Provide the Service and keep it running (authentication, asset delivery, region access)
  • Provide customer support and respond to requests
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and region maturity rules
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Investigate and respond to reports of harassment, scams, exploit abuse, underage access, or other policy violations (which may require limited review of logs, including chat logs)
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests

4) How We Share Information

4.1 We Don’t Sell Your Personal Data

FurrySide does not sell your personal information.

4.2 Service Providers

We may share information with trusted providers who help us operate the Service (for example: hosting, security tooling, email delivery), but only as needed to provide and secure the Service.

4.3 Podex (FurBucks Exchange)

If you choose to buy or sell FurBucks using the Podex exchange terminal, FurrySide shares with Podex only the minimum information required to complete the transaction:

  • Your in-world avatar name
  • Your avatar UUID

Podex is a third-party service and processes exchange transactions under its own terms and privacy practices.

4.4 Legal, Safety, and Enforcement

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests
  • Protect the rights, safety, and security of FurrySide, our users, or others
  • Investigate and enforce violations of our Terms or policies
  • Respond to emergencies or serious harm situations

5) Data Retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Some records (including certain server logs and chat logs) may be retained for safety, enforcement, and investigative purposes. Access to these records is restricted and they are not reviewed unless needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

6) Cookies (Website)

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in (if applicable)
  • Remember preferences
  • Understand how the website is used so we can improve it

8) Children / Underage Users

FurrySide is not available to anyone under 14.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 14, we will terminate the account and take appropriate steps consistent with safety and legal obligations.

9) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10) Third-Party Links

Our website or in-world experience may include links to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

11) Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top and post the updated policy.
